Privacy Policy

How Tint collects, uses and protects your personal data — and the controls you have over it. Tint follows EU (GDPR) and US (CCPA/CPRA) privacy rules.

Last updated 1 July 2026

Overview

Tint (“Tint,” “we,” “us”) is a dating app for gay, bi and queer men aged 18 and over. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use and share it, and the rights and choices you have. It applies to the Tint mobile app and tintdating.com.

Because Tint serves the LGBTQ+ community, simply using Tint may reveal information about your sexual orientation. We treat that information as sensitive and protect it accordingly. Where the law requires, we rely on your explicit consent to process it.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account & profile — name or display name, email, date of birth, gender and pronouns, photos, bio, prompts and preferences.
  • Verification — a verification selfie or similar signal used to confirm you are real and to award the gold check.
  • Content — messages, likes, reports and anything you submit to support.
  • Payments — subscription status. Card details are handled by the app stores and payment processors; we do not store full card numbers.

Information we collect automatically

  • Device & usage — device type, operating system, app version, IP address, identifiers, and how you interact with Tint.
  • Location — approximate location from your IP, and precise location only if you grant permission, to show people near you.
  • Cookies & similar tech — on our website. See our Cookie Policy.

Information from others

App stores (subscription status), verification partners, and content other users share or report about you.

How we use your information

  • Create your account and show you relevant people to match with.
  • Verify identity and keep the community safe — detecting fraud, abuse, spam and prohibited content.
  • Operate subscriptions and premium features.
  • Send service messages, and — with your consent — product news.
  • Improve Tint and comply with our legal obligations.

Legal bases (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to run Tint for you), legitimate interests (safety, security and improving our service), consent (precise location, marketing, and sensitive data), and legal obligation.

Data revealing sexual orientation is a special category under Article 9. We process it on the basis of your explicit consent and your manifest choice to use a service for our community. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.

How we share information

  • Service providers — hosting, analytics, moderation and payments, under contract and only as needed.
  • Other users — the profile and content you choose to show.
  • Safety & legal — to comply with law or protect users, where genuinely required.
  • Business transfers — if Tint is involved in a merger or acquisition, with notice to you.
We never sell your data
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under US privacy laws.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete and port your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing.” You will never be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Most of this you can do in-app. For anything else, email care@tintdating.com. We respond within 30 days. See Your Data & Rights for the full walkthrough.

Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide Tint. When you delete your account we delete or anonymize your data, except limited records we must keep for legal, security, fraud-prevention or ban-evasion reasons.

Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls and ongoing monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we work hard to safeguard your information and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.

International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than where you live. When we transfer data internationally we use appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Adults only (18+)

Tint is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to a minor, we remove it immediately and permanently.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a revised date, and tell you in-app or by email when changes are material.
